Abstract Self-emulsifying drug delivery systems, which are isotropic mixtures of oils, surfactants, solvents, and co-solvents or surfactants, may be used to design formulations to boost oral absorption of highly lipophilic drug compounds. It may be orally administered in soft or hard gelatin capsules. These systems form fine emulsions or micro-emulsions in the gastro-intestinal tract with mild agitation provided by gastric mobility. These formulations were increased bioavailability due to increasing the solubility of the drug and minimize gastric irritation.
