Abstract The hypoglycemic effect of ethanolic leaves extract of Zizyphus nummularia was evaluated by alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Animals were induced alloxan for diabetes with (150 mg/kg bw i.p.) and treated orally with ethanolic leaves extract of Zizyphus nummularia (250 mg/kg & 500 mg/kg) and standard Glibenclamide (5 mg/kg). The extracts showed significant (p< 0.01& p< 0.05) anti-hyperglycemic activity as compared to diabetic control.
