Antimicrobial Activity of Some Halogenated Isoalkyl Phenols

Abstract Halogenated isopropyl-, sec-butyl-, sec-pentyl-, sec-hexyl, sec-heptylphenols were synthesized and screened for possible antibacterial and antifungal activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus viridans, Escherichia coli, Shigella flexneri, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella typhimurium, B. proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacterium antracoides, Bacterium subtilis, Klebsiella rhinoscleuromatis and Candida albicans using the microdilution method. Antimicrobial tests results indicated that all compounds […]

Bioassay Guided Isolation of Antimicrobial and Cytotoxic Components from Ethyl Acetate Extracts of Cassia sieberiana D.C. (Fabaceae)

Abstract The leaves extracts of Cassia sieberiana D.C. were screened for cytotoxicity using Brine Shrimp Test (BST) and antimicrobial bioassay against Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli using crude ethanol extract, Chloroform soluble fraction, aqueous soluble fraction, ethyl acetate soluble fraction, methanol soluble fraction and n-hexane soluble fraction. The Ethyl acetate fraction obtained proved […]

Role of Rivaroxaban and Aspirin in the Prevention of Cardiac Complications of Covid-19 with Early Acute Coronary Syndrome Therapy

Abstract The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic due to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus has challenged health-care systems and physicians worldwide to aim to produce the most effective care to their patients with an evolving understanding of this distinctive infective agent. Aspirin has been proposed as a treatment for COVID-19 on the basis of its […]

Determination of Clotrimazole in Creams by Derivative Spectrophotometry

Abstract Clotrimazole is an antifungal agent widely used in pharmaceutical formulations. Quality control of pharmaceutical products requires accurate, rapid, and selective analytical procedures. In this work, a derivative spectrophotometric method for clotrimazole determination using the first derivative of the absorption spectra was developed. The analytical curve was linear at concentrations between 1.18 × 10-4 and […]

A Brief Review of the Synthesis and Therapeutic Potential of 1,10-Phenanthroline Heterocycle

Abstract The 1,10-phenanthroline tricycle and its derivatives are of great interest in medicinal chemistry. Some years several research papers have been published on the 1,10-phenanthroline core alone or complexed with various metals. Researchers have explored new approaches to functionalize the 1,10-phenanthroline motif in order to obtain less toxic potential drug candidates without adding additional metals. […]

Synthesis and Characterization of Some New Potential Biologically Active 3-Alkyl(Aryl)-4-(methoxysubstituebenzylideneamino)-4,5-dihidro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-ones

Abstract In the present study, two new 3-alkyl-4-(3-methoxybenzylideneamino)-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-ones (3b,c) and three new 3-alkyl-4-(3,4-dimethoxybenzylideneamino)-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-ones (4a-c) were synthesized by the reactions 3-methoxybenzaldehyde and 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde with corresponding 3-alkyl-4-amino-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-ones (2a-c). The structures of five new compounds characterized from the IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral data. Keywords 1,2,4-triazol-5-one, Schiff base, synthesis. Google Scholar Citation [Full Text: PDF]

Prediction of Acute Toxicity of (Z) -N, N-Dimethyl-2- (perfluorophenyl) -2- (2-phenylhydrazinylidine)acetamide for Rats using the GUSAR Program

Abstract It is known that the determination of the values of half-lethal doses (LD50) for rodents is a necessary stage of preclinical experimental studies for putative physiologically active substances. To calculate (in silico) the LD50 value for 4 methods of substance administration (oral, intraperitoneal, intravenous, subcutaneous), we used the GUSAR (General Unrestricted Structure-Activity Relationships) computer […]

The Adsorption Kinetics and Thermodynamics Study of some Metal Ions (Cr+6, Pb+2, and Co+2) on to Activated Carbon derived from Lemon Peel (Citrus limonum)

Abstract The adsorption, kinetics, and thermodynamics of some metal ions (Cr+6, Pb+2, and Co+2) on to activated carbon derived from lemon peel (Citrus limonum) was studied. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) was used to determine the elemental composition of the adsorbents while Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was used for surface texture and morphological characteristics of […]

The Study of Impact of Forced Degradation on the Assay of Methylene Blue by RP-HPLC

Abstract The main objective of this study is to study the impact of forced degradation on the assay of Methylene Blue by RP-HPLC. A simple, specific, accurate and precise RP-HPLC method has been validated as per ICH guideline for determination of assay of Methylene Blue. Validation parameters like Linearity, Accuracy, Precision, System suitability, Specificity were […]
