Assessment of Heavy Metals pollution in Soils within Hot Mix Asphalt Plants Vicinity in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria

Abstract Soil samples were collected from three asphalt hot mix stations and examined for heavy metals using standard procedures. The results obtained showed that the concentrations of the heavy metals occurred in the order; iron (Fe)>zinc (Zn)>chromium (Cr)>lead (Pb)>copper (Cu)>nickel (Ni)>arsenic (As)>cobalt (Co)> cadmium (Cd). All the metals examined in the soil were lower than […]

Geochemical Index, Ecological Risk and Enrichment Factor of Heavy Metals in Sediments at Drainage Discharge Points into the New Calabar River, Rivers State Niger Delta, Nigeria

Abstract Sediment samples were obtained from points where drainage of effluents were discharge into the New Calabar River. The samples were collected for a period of four months and analyzed for heavy metals using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The heavy metals examined were iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr) […]

Bacteriological quality of unbranded soymilk sold in major markets in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria

Abstract The increased consumption of soymilk due to its low cost has led to its small-scale production under household conditions with little or no regards to quality control measures. Soymilk, though a nutritive beverage serves as a good substrate for the proliferation of microorganisms; therefore, the consumption of locally-produced soymilk, packaged in unsterile plastic containers […]

The Effect of Spearmint Oil on the Microbiological Properties of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Fillets under Refrigerator Conditions

Abstract In this study, it was examined the microbiological properties to Oncorhynchus mykiss fillets of spearmint essential oils during storage 4±1°C. So as to create all samples was applied 1% spearmint oil to fillets of rainbow trout. During the storage at 4 ± 1 ° C of fillets in the study were made every three […]
