Abstract In pharmacy, Benzoic acid is used as conservativeof pharmaceutical preparations and it’s classified as notorious effect excipient whose declaration is mandatory in the leaflets and on the packaging of medicines. We synthesized this excipient in Therapeutic laboratoryof pharmacy department of Sidi Bel-Abbes according to two different experimental protocols, the first from toluene by oxidation reaction whose yield is low equal to 21.92%, and the second from benzaldehyde by Cannizzaro reaction where we got a better yield equal to 91.02%, four times better.
